JUNE 2010

TMD Canada Day

THIS MAD DESIRE TO KICK OFF CANADA DAY IN THE PARK
WHERE: Riverside Park, Guelph, ON
WHEN: THU JUL 1, 2010 FAMILY ACTIVITIES AND MUSICAL FIREWORKS 11AM-10PM (TMD performance 12:30)

This Mad Desire formed as a result of performing for singer Mac Attack's solo project "Deathstyle: Celebration" (co-produced by Guelph's Andrew McPherson) in 2008, during which time they performed at festivals in Manitoba and Ontario. Shows have been described variously with words like "showstopper", "energetic" and "exhausting". There is always an element of surprise whether it be magicians mid-set, extra musicians, or lions....

Taking a break from recording their new record, TMD will display new songs, old songs, and you can expect an exciting drum solo from the Legendary Jim Perry.

There is also a comic book called "Mac Attack" based on the exploits of singer Mac Attack and the band produced by Hamilton-based b vs. A Comics.

ABOUT THE BAND:

Mac Attack (vocals/guitar) - Mac is a poet, comic book character, and publisher. From Winnipeg, descending from Iceland, Mac spent 10-12 years living in Guelph and the mighty village of Eden Thrills. Whoops. Eden Mills.

Mike Trebilcock (guitar) - Guelphites will definitely remember Mike from his time leading Hamilton-based the Killjoys in the 90s. They won a Juno and a Rock Radio Award. Google for details! Youtube for videos! You’ll be glad you did!

Mark Domsic (bass) - Mark is the latest addition to the group and comes from Toronto’s metal/punk/reggae act Black Market Revolution.

Reinhard Kypke (keys) - Berlin-born Reinhard “F.T. Sirius” Kypke makes Guelph his home and hosts the Teutonics radio show celebrating the best in electronic music. Sundays at 10PM. CFRU 93.3 FM. They also let him sing in one of your choirs! A man of many talents.

Jim Perry (drums) - Jim “Jim of all trades” Perry is truly a genre unto himself. When he’s not fixing someone’s roof, teaching drums, backing up Blue Rodeo tribute band Blue Radio, leading a drum circle, you get the picture. Jim’s your man.

And I can't resist this... On the very same date as Mac's birthday, June 29, drops the new CD from Selina Martin. Go to www.selinamartin.com. I understand that Chris Stringer helped to make it. How extra great is that? Tell everyone! BUY MORE RECORDS!!!! Sales are dropping!

On the front page of this site are occasional NEW DEMOS etc. They're lo-fi but awesome. So far I'm only posting IRON MAN // CANDY DOCTOR ... mp3's. Just fun. Obviously Iron Man is Black Sabbath and I haven't exactly told them. Maybe they'll send me a "cease & desist"!! E-mail LOVE@THISMADDESIRE.COM. THX!! XOXO -Mac

PRAISE: Backed by dual drummers, Mac Attack closed up the show with what was clearly the most eccentric performance of the evening; there was even a short intermission for a bit of magic that included a levitating table... There was (also) a comic book available at the merchandise table called Mac Attack. For pictures and more visit http://www.petenema.com/article.php?story=snorri
